Tom Stanton: President's MessageI’m truly honored to have been selected to be your President for the current program year. Our chapter is extremely fortunate to have so many talented, dedicated people volunteering to serve in the roles of Officers, Directors, Committee Chairs and Committee Members. I look forward to working with this outstanding group of individuals. The things that I would like to see us accomplish this year are to continue to provide first class educational events, and to finalize the development of a Strategic Plan for our chapter. I also would like to refocus the role of the Chapter Executive Committee (CEC) to one of dealing with strategic issues while leaving the day-to-day management issues to the Officers and Committee Chairs. The Officers and Committee Chairs met on June 14th to discuss each committee’s goals, plans and budgetary requirements for the program year. Based on the discussions each Committee Chair agreed to provide Cindy Yee (our Treasurer) a detailed budget by July 3rd. Also based on the discussions a proposed calendar of events was developed and distributed to our members. Cindy consolidated all the budgets and we submitted a detailed budget to the CEC for approval. The CEC met on July 19th and discussed in detail the budget. After some minor modifications the CEC approved the budget. This is the first time in several years that we have a detailed approved budget this early in the program year. I want to thank all for their well thought out, detailed budgets and the excellent questions/suggestions posed by the CEC. We are moving forward with our Strategic Plan with the completion of a membership survey. I believe we received responses from about 50% of our members. This is truly an outstanding response rate. I want to thank all of you who completed the survey. We have also just completed another highly successful Government Technology Conference thanks to Clarence Kuwahara, Patrick Oki, Cindy Yee, Arnold Kishi and the numerous volunteers from both AGA and ASMC that gave their time and dedicated support. I ask all to support your chapter by attending our events and in volunteering to serve on a committee. Tom Stanton |
